The Towns of Searsport and Stockton Springs, and the City of Belfast, are pleased to announce that Dr. Habib Dagher, Director of the Advanced Structures and Composites Center at the University of Maine at Orono, will be speaking to elected officials and interested members of the public on Tuesday, May 31st, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM at the Belfast City Boathouse, located at 34 Commercial Street.
Dr. Dagher will be speaking about the development of the offshore wind industry in Maine, and the Center's role in it. The Center is also the lead organization of the DeepCWind Consortium and a member of the Maine Wind Industry Initiative, two organizations focused on establishing the State of Maine as a leader in offshore wind technology.
"Our three communities have been working together to see that this region is positioned to be the primary location for the development of Maine's offshore wind industry, taking advantage of our well-trained workforce, high quality of life, and infrastructure such as Mack Point. We've asked Dr. Dagher to come to excite the public and our elected officials about this industry's potential to dramatically impact our regional economy in a beneficial way," according to Thomas Kittredge, Belfast's Economic Development Director.
