The Midcoast Area include the small coastal towns of Lincolnville, Northport, Bayside, Belfast, Searsport and Stockton Springs. Cape Jellison boasts the Fort Point Light House. These towns are nestled on the rocky coast of Maine in the Penobscot Bay Region and are steeped in history and charm. We like to think that "we have it all", admittedly there are some things we don't have - traffic jams, strip malls, huge chain stores and mile after mile of fast-food restaurants. We can, however, offer miles of two-lane rural roads with spectacular vistas: quiet walks along waterfronts; locally owned, independent and unusal stores; cruises and sailboat rides; the best ice cream in Maine; a year-round theater company, fabulous coffee; one of the finest marine museums on the east coast, Penobscot Marine Museum; and a tasty assortment of dining opportunites. The corridor between the bridges from Belfast to the soon to open new Penobscot Bay Narrows Bridge and Observatory in Prospect offers unique shops and businesses. We encourage you to visit and vacation, once you do, you'll never want to leave, and if you do leave, you will long to come back, again an again!
Whether you are a young family wanting to raise your children in a safe, friendly community; a business owner looking for reliable, hardworking employees; an artist seeking a creative environment in which to work; or a retired person wanting to connect with a vibrant, caring community, the Belfast area can meet your needs.
